[ARCHIVED] Public warned to stay off levy system

East Grand Forks officials are asking people to stay off the dikes and flood walls during this flood event. This request is being made for safety reasons as river currents and water temperatures are at very dangerous levels.

Motorists are also asked to respect the barricades closing off roads, and not go around them. These roads are closed off for safety. Please use open routes for necessary travel only.

Finally, City Officials are asking the public to stay away from areas where levy construction is taking place. This is to give the workers the space needed to properly assemble the protection system, and keep the public safe.

The East Grand Forks Police Department will be patrolling these areas and issuing citations as necessary.
