Warning System

East Grand Forks has four warning sirens which are used to notify residents who are outdoors of a tornado warning or a possibly severe weather event. 

When the sirens sound, is not safe to be outside. When you hear the siren go off, get inside, take shelter, and, if possible, turn on a radio or TV for more information.  

To receive emergency alerts, sign up for the Polk County Emergency Alert Program.

Storm Shelters 

The city does have three designated storm shelters:

• Civic Center – 300 15^th St. NE (East Entrance)
• VFW arena – 711 3^rd St. SE (West Entrance)
• EGF Fire Department - 415 4^th St. NW
