Where curiosity, connection, & creativity come together!

The East Grand Forks Campbell Library is a welcoming, community-centered gathering place in Northwest Minnesota.

After the Library’s former building on Second Street was destroyed in the historic 1997 flood, the current facility was thoughtfully designed and opened in 2001. Its floor sits one and a half feet higher than the peak floodwaters, reflecting the community’s resilience and commitment to the future.

Today, the Library offers a collection of more than 32,000 items, including the Henry G. Tweeten Military Library, one of the region’s most extensive military history collections, and a Red River Valley Collection preserving local history before and after the flood. A growing Library of Things allows patrons to borrow items like a sewing machine, board games, and cake pans.

With nearly 475 programs offered each year and multiple meeting and study rooms available to the public, the Campbell Library is more than a place for books—it’s a place to learn, gather, create, and feel at home.

Our Mission

The East Grand Forks Campbell Library responds to the needs of users by creating and maintaining an up-to-date collection and programs. The Library provides fiscally well-managed professional services, an inviting building, and resources to support educational, cultural, and recreational activities.

Did You Know?

The bricks in our entryway have the names of people or organizations who donated money to our rebuilding fund. A bronze book on a brick is a $500 donation, silver $1000, and gold is $2000 or more. During the 1997 flood, we received our first donation for a new library 3 days after we were evacuated from the city. It came from Retired US Navy Captain H C Hunter from Pearl City, HI who wrote in and said that he saw we had been flooded and that every city needs a public library and enclosed a check for $200.
