29. Specifications for Garbage Container Sizes & Installations

    Listed are the specifications for containers to be located at multiple dwellings and businesses.

    Container sizes available are 1, 2, 4, and 6 cubic yards.

    All container sites are to be so located to be free from all parking areas and fire lanes, generally at one end of the building off access lanes to parking area.

    Container Sites Construction Specifications:

    Concrete slabs - Must be installed at the same approximate height as surrounding area and completed before containers will be issued.

    1 and 2 yard container - 6' x 8' at least 4" thick, over 1.5" stabilized gravel.

    4 yard container - 10' x 12' at least 6" thick, over 1.5" stabilzed gravel.

    Any additions of containers requires the same additional size slab.

    Enclosures:

    Must be same size as the slab, enclosed on at least three (3) sides, five (5) feet in height beginning one (1) inch up from the slab.  Four (4) yard containers must have a least a twelve (12) foot opening.

    Board spacing of enclosure-maximum of four (4) inches.

    If gates are to be installed, they must be approved by the Sanitation or Public Works Department.

33. Mobile Container Agreement

    The undersigned agrees to rent, from the City of East Grand Forks, a mobile container or containers for the purpose of storing refuse as prescribed by the rules and ordinances of the City of East Grand Forks.  

    The undersigned agrees to assume all liability for any injuries or damages due to the use of this container other than City employees and to indemnify the City from any claims which may arise.

    The undersigned agrees to construct and maintain a concrete slab, as prescribed above, and keep it clean from snow and other obstacles. 

    The undersigned agrees to assume responsibility for any damage to the container not caused by employees or agents of the City of East Grand Forks and not arising from ordinary use.

    The undersigned agrees to keep the slab and container reasonably clean, not to overload the container, and that the rental will be billed monthly with the utility bill.

    The undersigned understands that the City of East Grand Forks reserves the right to terminate mobile container rental service at any time.
